How to replace hot end thermistor

I broke a wire from the hotend thermistor and am ready to replace it and need some advice. I've disassembled the hotend, removed the set (grub?) screw but the thermistor is not coming out. The printer is a MK2 kit and I don't know if the set screw was too tight and bulged the thermistor sleeve or ?? Any ideas of how to remove it?
Thanks

Re: How to replace hot end thermistor

If the heat block is totally off the printer, and the heater is already out, \\i would be tempted to heat the heat block with a hot air blower, gas ring, electric cooker, what ever you have easily available, then hold the heat block still and poke the thermistor out with an allen key or similar

it is possible that some old filament has glued the thremistor in place

best wishes Joan
