Filament Not sticking to bed

I've adjusted the Z-axis to -0.470mm and the filament doesn't want to stick to the bed. Everything is running fine I just can't seem to get the filament to stick properly. Would painter's tape be a viable option for adhesion? on the new print bed or would that damage the bed?

Nathan

What type of filament are you using and what bed temperature.

Generally most filaments will stick rather well with a clean build plate and correct Live Z Adjustment.

Re: Filament Not sticking to bed

PLA needs 55 degrees at least. The PEI will release PLA at room temp,

I don't start to get good adhesion until I've got my Live Z-adjust down to -0.680 or more. I think right now I'm at -0.730. Of course, this is very printer dependent based on the actual height of your PINDA to your nozzle. Based on the instruction, feel free to keep lowering the Z. If you get to -1.00, and if it still does not stick, then you would need to lower your PINDA.

Also - for PLA, be sure your clean the print surface with isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease from touching the bed. Also, as other have mentioned, heat the bed to 55C.

[Edited to show correct Z height]

If you get to -0.100, and if it still does not stick, then you would need to lower your PINDA.

I believe that is an error. -0.1 is not a problem at all. -1.0 on the other hand would indicate that the probe may be a tad too low.

Peter

EDIT: I too made a mistake - the probe would need to be raised a tad if Live Z adjust is 1mm or more...

Yes, you are correct, I meant to type -1.0. I'll go edit my note if I still can.
