Capricorn PTFE for MK2

I have had the MK2 since about it came out it has about 2 months of print time. lately, I have been getting resistance when inserting the filament. I think that the PTFE tube is going out.

I want to replace it with a Capricorn XS PTFE but I haven't seen anyone using it and the only threads that talk about it are for the MMU no the original MK2

Does anyone have any experience?

How do I install it? there is a Prusa guide but I have also seen where people use other tools to cut and shape the tube.

Re: Capricorn PTFE for MK2

no personal experience with this ptfe....

I would expect to shape as PJR identified for mmu except the length would be different. so I would leave the tube long then trim the top after trial fitting(in line with Prusa method...)
I would then briefly remove the tube, taper the inside at the top, a little, ensure the bore was clear, then re install the ptfe tube again... not forgetting to have the heatsink half a turn loose on the heatbreak, ensuring the ptfe was fully inserted and the black ring lifted, before finally tightening the heatsink, and reassembling the extruder

best of luck, Joan

Hi,

Yes I have installed the Capricorn PTFE tube.
I use the Capricorn tube with the smaller ID (the same as for the MMU).
Works fine.
I made it the same shape as the original one (length, camfering, etc)

I bought some too but haven't tried it yet. Going to put in in my other printers to see if I can take them to much higher temps.

Shame it's so pricey though! 😮
