Alternative to FESTO couplers ?
Hi,
I've been running the MMU 1.0 for several monthes without too much hassle except lately when all my bowden tubes started to come loose one after the others and it took me a while to figure out that some easy but failed prints were related to that.
As others pointed out the locking ring for the PTFE in the festos and the move of the extruders are slowly and surely cutting the bowden tubes. When you do the math those parts are little bit expensive and don't last long plus the bowden tubes will be cut at some stage even if you don't with more than one color.
I was wondering if someone has a tip to extend the life of the system or to get rid of the festos on the multiplexer. I am waiting for a new batch of PTFE and Festos. I would love to get rid of that system.

Festos really are not that expensive when you buy direct (you may need to buy 10 or 20).
The PTFE tube can be shortened and the the firmware adjusted appropriately (Do a "Firmware Reset" and select the Tube length option).

I agree about the cost of Festos, they are dirt cheap. I buy them in packs of 10 from Amazon and have two sizes, the P4-M10 and the P4-M6. The M10 allows for the PTFE tube to be pushed through it and into the machine further, the M6 does not.

you *can* get M6 ones as well that let the tube pass through. The keyword is "passthrough" PC4-M6.

Unfortunately, the "Passthrough" Festos are not much use for the MMU1 🙁

I may be going daft, I thought the Festo's for MMU were M5 thread...!
which are even less likely to offer passthrough!
