Material not feeding from Extruder 2

I'm having a bit of a problem. After installing my MM Kit I printed the "Prusa" print in single color. I loaded material in the first extruder and everything worked great. I have attempted to print a 2 color Marvin, but nothing comes out of Extruder #2. Extruder # continues to work fine, but not #2.

Material appears to load up to the Multi-material multiplexer with no problems When I start the print it extrudes material 1 at the edge of the buildpale as expected, but when it tries to print material #2 nothing comes out. I hear a slight clicking sound from the extruder but nothing else.

I tried swapping the material between 1 and 2 and the problem continues on extruder 2.

I've tried looking at some of the posts, and have looked at the PTFE tubing, but since it is loading material 1 it doesn't that would be the problem. Not sure what to check next.

I just changed to the Whale model to see if extruder 4 would load. Now extruder #1 is workingand so is extruder 4. During the initial purge, extruder 2 was not working though.

Also, when it started "printing" from extruder #2 nothing is coming out.

Re: Material not feeding from Extruder 2

When you "Load Filament 2" does it load correctly, or does it click at the end? Does the extruder move when commanded?

Check the tension on #2. Might be too tight. Should be barely engaged on the spring with no filament in.

You might want to check that the steel tubes for #2 are clear.

Any advices given are offered in good faith. It is your responsibility to ensure that by following my advice you do not suffer or cause injury, damage or loss. If you solve your problem, please post the solution…

When I load Filament 2 it does seem to load correctly. The extruder moves when commanded. I will check the tension and the steel tubes. They are inserted and should be cleared, but have not checked them you.

I am having the same issue, I switch the bowden tunes around so that the multiplexer's "second" port is unused 2 extruder works perfectly in the 3rd port... All four steel tubes are clear

Re: Material not feeding from Extruder 2

I have the same issue. 😥 Found out the steel tubes at the MM Head are actually (are always/get?) lose and are very likely get ot of alignment when Extruderhead moves without filament in particular steel tube. When this happens it is very likely too the material gets stucked at the outligned steel tube (instead of sliding in/trough). The clicking noise is the stepper motor trying to overcome the resistance of the stucked filament. Noise comes from slipping filament/stepper motor.
💡 So problem: not aligned steel tubes. 💡 Don't know where i could've done anything wrong at assembling, following literally the instructions.
Prusa team please help. ❗ ❗

Re: Material not feeding from Extruder 2

I couldn't figure out why material #2 wouldn't load when printing. I tried removing the bowden tubes and the quick disconnect from the top of the multiplexer. The steel tube for material #2 seems a little out of alignment, but I can't get it out or get it to stay in position.

I reconnected the bowden tube and tried again but got the same result, so I paused the print, pulled the #2 Bowden tube from the top of the multiplexer and selected load material #2 from the menu. I then reinstalled the bowden tube, making sure the filament went into the steel tube. I then continued the print. Since it was printing material 2 at that time it continued printing material #2. The next time the printer switched back to material #2 it worked fine.

Kind of a long drawn out process, but I guess it forced the steel tube back into alignment and it now seems to be OK.
