Confusion about loading/extruding filament

On the regular mk2s when I load filament I actually see the filament being extruded through the nozzle. With the MM upgrade I no longer see any filament extruded through nozzle. Is this expected? Loading filament from extruder 1, 2, 4 works fine, but when I print v2 calibration nothing is extruded. I don't see anything in the festos/steel tube either. I went through the pre-flight checklist and troubleshooting but don't see how to figure out what is wrong to even begin fixing this.

What can the problem be?

Hi,
I dont think V2 calibration was sliced using the multimedia version of Sic3r,

what I do, is to raise the extruder to about 100mm,
preheat for your chosen filament, then choose settings, move axis, extruder and dial in a load of extrusion... eventually, the filament will start extruding...

wait for it to finish, remove the waste, and then you can run v2calibration, as usual!

You cannot use regular MK2 V2calibration.gcode. Use version for MM (you can find it in the "3Dobjects" folder).

V2MMcalibration gcode for PLA is attached below.

OK, after clearing a clog in the heatbreak, another in extruder 2 metal tube, reseating and tightening the pulley in extruder 3, changing z-live over 100 microns due to adjustment of pinda, removing the ptfe tube from the spool and changing the spool configuration, I finally have it working, thanks for the advice. Based on the photo below a ptfe tube from spool is not necessary, right?

Re: Confusion about loading/extruding filament

I would advise against a continuous tube from spool holder to extruder, as there needs to be some space where the filament that is temporarily unloaded, to go.

I would suggest small bent tubes on the input of the extruders though, especially if you have the spools above the printer.

If you dont have some filament guide there, the filament can kink and break on the "U-turn" it needs to do if it comes down from above and enters the extruder.

I have just 5-10 cm leftover PTFE tube sticking in the extruder, and the included tubes on the spool holders. seems to work fine for me. (I have the spools also above the printer.)
