Colorprint standalone version not yet MM update ready ?

Hi All,

On the website the Colorprint application is already Multi Material update capable.
Will there be a standalone version that is Multi Material Update ready as well ?

I just downloaded it, but it doesn't have the nice MM features that the webversion has.
But since i don't always have internet , it would be nice to have a standalone version too that supports multimaterial!

It is better to use Z-Lift when printing multi-filament prints but unfortunately that excludes the use of the ColourPrint app.

In any event, probably the easiest method is to simply edit the GCode and insert the M600 where you want it (not it only works with the current extruder). If you do this then you may also need to remove the following line if it is a retract prime command.

Thanks PJR...

But on the website it supports Multi Material.
Today i wanted to print a design of my own, it's 31.5mm high and from 30.1mm letters start.
I wanted to use the filament in Extruder 2 for the first 30.1mm and then from there on use the filament in Extruder 3.

This is not something i hoped for. I was hoping i could just choose from the extruder i wanted and then swap filament and do the lettering.

So basically you say to use colorprint standard, unload all filaments, load filament 2 in extruder 1, print, remove and then put in filament 2 ?
So then i am of to manual. Or design it so it is 2 seperate parts and put them together in Gcode and then let the MM change the color.

I am a bit puzzled. Have printed 2 color Marvin and just finished the 4mm gear.

Only times state 3 hrs for the gears and turned out to 4hrs5min using the supplied g-code,
This also happened with Adalinda when i just got my I3 Mk2 last year, it states 6 hrs and mine was doing 7hrs15.
Did i do something wrong or do you speed up the printers to 120% 🙂

Hoping to hear how i can print my print with letters in a different color.

Re: Colorprint standalone version not yet MM update ready ?

The most efficient way to print the first part of a model in one colour and the remainder in another is to insert the M600 in the GCode file (manually of with Colourprint) and then change the filament when requested.

Of course it is possible to use 2 extruders each pre-loaded with the colour required for each model part, but that would require a tower to be printed and a tool change at the relevant layer.

This would result in a slower print and wasted filament.

As far as timings are concerned, they take as long as they take. I printed exactly the same model on 2 separate printers, both set up identically and one took 15 minutes longer than the other. It happens.
