Need advice on damaged part
Today I went about clearing the worst filament jam I've ever had. Somehow, I could not pull out or push through the filament, regardless of the temperature of the hot end, and the only thing left was to dismantle the hot end.
After much struggle, I managed to get the filament out of my hot end by forcefully pulling out the PTFE liner along with the filament that was stuck in there. (I had to use a pliers to do this. Not sure if that is normal.) During this process, I managed to break a small plastic piece. It's the black plastic piece circled in blue in the attached picture. I don't know what this is called or if you can even buy a new one.
I have PTFE to make a new liner but I don't know what to do about this other plastic insert. Do I even need this piece? If so, where can I get one?

That little black plastic collar is a one-way holder for the PTFE tube: you push the PTFE in, and then you can't pull it out. HOWEVER, there's a very clever secret: Just push the black collar down flush against the top of the extruder and your PTFE tube will pull out easily!
Sadly, you broke the collar. But you need it to keep the PTFE tube in place whenever you do a "retract" on your filament, so you've got to replace it.
I recommend contacting E3D to see if they can help you. What you need kinda resembles their "Threaded Bowden Coupling" but that is NOT the part you need; you need a part or assembly that gets completely buried inside the Extruder. Prusa may be able to help you too. I wish I knew the industry name for that type of fitting.

Thank you so much! I totally forgot that E3D made the hot ends and that they would have the parts. I looked at the part you were referring to and yes, that is what I need. I'll contact E3D directly with my dilemma.
Thanks for the tip on how to remove the extra plastic collar! I'll be sure to do that next time. I hope there's not a next time! Heh.
