Original Prusa i3 MK2/S Multi Material .... Maxtemp error

Hi everyone ... my name is Jacques

I have a problem with my MK2/s MMU 1.0 ... I have a maxtemp error and a high pitch sound. I've check all the wiring and all seem ok ... I need help. Has anyone had that problem before. Thank you.

Hi Jacques,

Mintemp either indicates a temperature below 15C, or a broken thermistor/thermistor wire, or a disconnection

most often one of the wires breaks.

does your LCD show 0C for either the extruder or the heatbed? that will give you a clue as to which thermistor circuit is defective.

you can replace the wires with 22AWG flexible silicone wires, regards Joan

I think that these links are much more important - Vertex MMU2S parts

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/69054-vertex3dorg-mmu2s-extruder-unit

https://github.com/Vertex3dPrinters/VERTEX-MMU2S-PLUS

I was literally using my MMU2S as a doorstop, but then I printed the modified Vertex parts and rebuilt my MMU2S and extruder with them (no more chimney!). The unit now works almost flawlessly. It's magical to watch when it's working. I'd never gotten to see it go past about 8 tool changes with the original parts.

How did you vertex extruder mod go? I'm think of going that way too. I've put an 8 way plug/socket in the cables so I can isolate and remove the Mmu2s. Can you use the new vertex extruder without the Mmu2s? That's my idea, so I can remove it completely if it gets annoying 🙂

Cheers,  Eric

Wow, I missed that there had been a reply. I guess I haven't been here in a while.

I did a similar thing, built sockets into my cables so that I could unplug the MMU2 when it was being stupid, which was all the time. It finally wound up back in the closet. The Vertex extruder, however, was still a good upgrade.

I started printing parts for the MMU3 upgrade (yes, I'm going to try again) and was midway through the extruder parts before I remembered that I didn't want to go back to the chimney. I was hoping maybe it had been redesigned as well but it looks like the same old chimney to me.

My experience as well. The MMu2 has been in a box, and I'm printing the parts for the MMU3 - I'm going for the UltiMulti variant. here's hoping ...
