All my smooth surfaces are printing rough - at wits end 🙁
I have been trying to print a simple, flat object for days. It looks smooth and then when I print it the surfaces does this. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I am printing with PLA and the file was created in Blender and then I used slic3r to create the gcode. I have tried everything that has been suggested in blender but nothing is working.

Two things
1. Can you please attach your photo directly to the post
2. Can you please try printing the pre-sliced Prusa Logo from the SD card to see if that suffers the same problem.

Hi Peter,
Here are both of the things you asked for 😀
Re: All my smooth surfaces are printing rough - at wits end 🙁
Are you using the stock nozzle? Have you measured the diameter of your filament; is very close to 1.75 mm? Have you changed the steps/mm setting away from the default? It looks like you're pushing out too much material somehow.
Re: All my smooth surfaces are printing rough - at wits end 🙁
Yes, it is the nozzle that came with it and the PLA filament also came with it. No, I have not touched the steps 🙂

But have you measured the filament? If so, what is the average diameter over a 5 metre length?
You will probably have to calibrate the extruder but also ensure that you have the correct tension on the drive pulley.

just to be clear, your over extruding but the surface won't look like the bottom of the print... better than this but still not like the bottom.
