Printer restarts when trying to start a print
Hello everyone! I ran into an unexpected issue with my printer just now; the printer was happily printing away, when all of a sudden it restarted in the middle of the print. That has never happened before, and the only two things that I changed were the following:
- I put the printer in an enclosure (Prusa Box), it does have a fan for heat control
- I enabled stealth mode to test it out
To note, the printer worked flawlessly before, and after I put it in the Prusa Box, it worked well for the first two prints I tested out within it. Now, however, after the restart mentioned above, it refuses to start any prints, opting to immediately restart, and after restart, the SD card is no longer recognized and I have to pull it out and put it back in (exact same issue as the one shown in this gif: https://gfycat.com/ampledismalleopard ). My thoughts and things I've tried:
- Tested 2 SD cards, both function on PC, both get recognized by the printer initially until I try and start a print
- Tested a different print (the one that worked just before), same restart
- Turned the printer off and on via the power switch
- Did a self test, all tests passed
- Turned off stealth mode, same restart in normal mode
- Not sure if it could be a wire issue as the setup printed normally twice (though I'm not ruling it out)
- Let it cool for 30 min while typing this post out
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated, and thanks in advance for any insight you can offer!
RE:
As an update, I opened up and checked the wiring, all wires seem to be in place on motherboard, control panel, and PSU. I also tried first layer calibration and preheating, both failed as well. Looks like printer functions normally up until it actually needs to print, which is when it restarts regardless of what is asked of it.
RE: Printer restarts when trying to start a print
I had mine restart when the air conditioner motor started up, if that's any help. Fortunately nothing was printing, just went back to start up.
