Print just stopped mid-way

I have a problem with a print that just stopped at about 50% for no apparent reason. I was not observing it, but I have printed a very similar file before. The print got to about 50% done and looks good so far.

I had the printer for just over a week, so I may still be missing something very obvious.

Ii appears that the PRUSA I3 MK2 just stopped, but the hotend fan is still running, hotend at 255degC, hotbed at 50degC, but it is not extruding and there is no hot end movement. No noise except for the fan.

The display says Z101.35 / SD---% / 08:20 (still counting up) / 3 hours 26 minutes (static). See photo for more details, please.

How can I work out what caused this? I don't want to waste another lot of Nylon 645 , there is not much left.

Cheers, Mik

It seems like we could need some FAQ section. 😉

I went into Settings> Move Axis and the extruder is extruding, x and z axis are working, but Y-axis only moved a little bit, then stopped. The print bed is also arrested in the Y direction (cannot be moved by hand).
After powering off and back on, the y-axis moves freely when pushed by hand.

I can not see any reason why this print has stopped.

Thanks David!

I did do a little search, but did not use freezing or hanging as search terms. 😆

Thanks again David, explanation found!

I must have shut down slicer before it had finished exporting the .gcode file.

Consequently, the .gcode file just ends and the printer waits for more instructions. Not sure why it shows the "3 hours 26 minutes" on the LCD. That is normally not shown when the print is still progressing.

In future I will check if the section with all the " ; ; ; ; ; ; ;" lines is present at the end of the .gcode file.

Or I'll try to pay attention to find whatever feedback there is about file transfer progress.
