PINDA replacement in CZ/EU
Hi, my PINDA cable is probably pinched somewhere (when I bend it a little I can perform the test with a metal object). Tech support said they're doubtful I can successfully solder a new cable and suggested I get a replacement, but they didn't say where 🙁
Any tips on getting my hands on one in CZ or Europe at least?
I did see some on Aliexpress, so there's always that I guess 😀
RE: PINDA replacement in CZ/EU
Pinda cable repair options depend upon where the cable is actually damaged. most frequent damage occurs in the flexible part between the cable clamp on the rear od the X carriage and the cable clamp on the rear of the rambo case.
the Mk2S has a three wire cable... unfortunately the Mk2S is an older printer. so you might have problems getting an after market pinda with the correct Plug for your printer,
the Mk3 /Mk4 printer, Pinda is similar device but it has a different connector on the end
if that is all that you can get, you can change the plug on the end of the cable
Early Mk3 Pinda's had 4 wires, if you use one on these on a mk2, you should leave the 4th wire unconnected and insulate the end.
It's possible that you can unpin the plug connectors and transfer the old connector onto the new cable.
the image below shows how I repaired a pinda cable....
Recently I gad a FINDA sensor failure on My MMU3 (Similar device) because of the cable motion, it twists the wire at the top of the Sensor and the cable failed inside the top of the sensor tube... that was not repairable,
I Got an after market sensor off ebay and shortened the cable to suit the MMU3
this was the sensor that I bought was
eBay item number:173129817421
which I note, is actually for a Mk2 printer.

RE: PINDA replacement in CZ/EU
Hi, first of all thanx for the quick reply. Do you know for a fact (from experience or perhaps this forum) that MK2 can work with a different sensor than the original PINDA? Anyway I think I'll just try to order the mk2 one off of Ali or eBay. I was just wondering if I could get my hands on one near where I live.
RE: PINDA replacement in CZ/EU
the one I identified works fine in my MMU3,
I have not tried it in my Mk2 with MMU1
Have you tried searching Ebay in your locale?

The closest eBay we have is Germany and yes, but no luck.
I ended up ordering from Aliexpress (labelled "P.I.N.D.A. Probe for DIY Original Prusa i3 mk2/mk2s") and just did the replacement. I didn't cut any wires. It seems to work just fine. I'm thinking of ordering another just to have a spare at hand.
