Heat Creep? Possibly another issue?

After experiencing a few issues I replaced a melted extruder cover and assembled hot end on my MK2S. After a few test prints with PLA I had a PETG print jam about halfway through. I took apart the extruder and found it jammed/caught after the ptfe tube. I replaced the PTFE tube and reassembled everything. Test print on PLA worked fine but jammed again during a PETG print. Honestly I am thinking I got a dud hotend as I havn't changed any settings.

Any ideas?

Check to see if retraction is on, try printing it without; it will be a little stringy; I had a problem that sometimes it would plug itself; if that helps I can go into more detail about getting retraction back.

I will try but I have to get the filament unstuck again. Is tearing apart the extruder the best way to get it out? I will try this asap, thanks!

For getting the filament out you can try undoing the spring loaded side, heat up the hot end to the hotter side of things and see whether a needle nose will help pull it out. There's a few things that can be done without having to touch the extruder for getting around the issue(I had melted a glob of ABS effectively destroying my carriage before and then I had this issue on my new carriage, most notably with PETG); a lot can be done code wise if it appears to be a retraction problem:

  1. Turn off retraction, if you can live with the increased stringiness (this should be accessible under your slicing program, advanced or expert user I believe if you are using Slic3r).
  2. Fine tune retraction so that there doesn't seem to be any issues (this will probably be on a material/manufacturer basis)
  3. Fine tune retraction and increase temperature.
  4. and the method I've gone with is to replace the heatbreak (with a new fancy titanium one), depending you may still need to tune the retraction some, but this definitely got rid of my blocking issue.
