Broken Thermistor Wire

Background:  I have an i3 MK2 that was updated to a MK2S extruder when Prusa sent me a prebuilt extruder assembly with wiring to fix a problem I had early on.

Unfortunately today I had a mishap with black Bridge Nylon that ended with a large glob around my extruder assembly.  I heated things back up and pulled off the glob, but unfortunately it took what I believe are the thermistor wires with it.  You can see the now disconnected blue wires in the picture below.  When that happened the machine started giving a max temp alarm.

So, my question: is there some sort of replacement kit I can purchase to repair this thermistor (if this is the thermistor)?  At the Prusa Shop I saw the "Hotend thermistor E3D", but it wasn't clear to me that this is what I need - it doesn't look like what I'm seeing.

Thanks for any guidance!

Jon

Hmmm, looking at it more it looks like I will need to replace the entire Assembled Hotend.  Like this: https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/mk2mk2s/120-assembled-hotend-e3d-mk2s-mk25.html .  Sound correct?
Thanks again,
Jon

You don't need to buy a complete hotend. A new heater cartridge and thermistor is certainly sufficient.
Simply remove the hotend, disassemble, clean and install the new elements. A heat gun is generally a useful tool in 3D printing (for cleaning and surface preparation).

You can buy the spare parts at Prusa. maybe there is also a dealer near you who offers these elements.

good luck!

If you have had a broken thermistor wire, you don't print enough.

"haven't" had, I assume.  🙂  My printer runs almost constantly, so I guess I was due!

How many years?  I have 17 printers and 3 of them have been printing for 3 years.  You will get one eventually.

Just one printer.  Bought it in 2016, but really in the past 2 years it's been running pretty much continuous.  First broken thermistor wire, thankfully!
