use flexiplate on mk2s

Hi,

Can i use a builttak flexiplate on my 2s. I just want to buy the seperate plate withouth the magnetic bed and hold it with clips. Will my auto leveling then still work?

if the flex plate has a steel core and the coating is not too thick then it should still work, but your Live Z will almost certainly need re establishing

probably best doing a Z axis calibration and live Z before trying to print on the new sheet. make sure the clamps you use, don't interfere with the frame or extruder assembly.
be careful setting it up.

I am not sure if this applies to what you are trying to set up but as a reference I tried to see if the Prusa steel sheet from my MK3 would work on my MK2s. It did not. The PINDA could not register the alignment points under the beds. Too thick I imagine. But again, that is the PRUSA steel sheet w/laminate on both sides. Hope this helps.

Mk2 XYZ calibration would need to be done without the steel sheet.

Z calibration would be done WITH the sheet

**This was my experience... yours may vary**
I once had the BuildTak flexplate system on my MK2S..... It seemed that the magnets are so strong, and in the same area of where the PINDA senses the mesh leveling before the print... that it threw off my PINDA quite a bit. Adjusting the Z height initially was no issue- I actually lowered the PINDA a touch.
But after a few prints it was acting quirky- and I was constantly having to use the live Z to get a decent first layer.
After removing the system and flashing the Firmware it prints just like it did before.

I was just going to use the flexplate without the magnetic base. And use clips to plaxe the flexiplate.

The problem with that is when the bed heats up, the center of the plate warps up( I tried that very same thing)

I suppose if you were just printing PLA it might not warp as hard as... say....PETG.. since the bed temp is lower

Ok thanks for the feedback. Then that isn't an option.
