XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
I tried the xyz calibration and it failed on the fourth point. I verified that the nozzle was not touching the print bed, but lowered the pinda probe and reran it, it failed again on the 4th calibration point. I have a video posted here. Can someone tell me what to try next? I'm at a loss on how to fix this.
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
So i was searching the forum and verified my bed was level at all 4 corners by checking the distance from the bed to the table with a micrometer, loosened the power supply bolts to the frame, cleaned the bed, but still, it dies on the same 4th calibration point every time. I did verify the pinda sensor is less than 1mm higher than the nozzle. Also i watch the pinda blink on all the calibration points. I also tightened the loop on the pinda just a little. Help?
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
So reflashing my firmware got me past the 4th calibration point problem. Then as it was going through leveling the nozzle crashed into bed. Lowered pinda, trying again. sigh.
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
And now its back to failing on the 4th calibration point. ARGH! Can anyone help me please? Should I be asking my questions elsewhere?
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
Are you able to measure the pinda to bed distance and compare to the first three? I believe there is a range that it will work with, outside that range and it will fail. Hopefully others will chime in for you.
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
Some background info might help.
Did you build a kit printer or buy pre-assembled?
Has it ever worked before?
With 4th calibration point, do you mean the one next to the "105" on the bed or the one opposite?
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
Hi I had similar problem on 4th calibration.
Watch my youtube video
I solve by making x-axis belt tighter. I needs to be really tight but avoid using excessing force.
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
I'm pretty sure that your problem can be caused by many things. I also had a lot of problems with the whole calibration phase and also similar issue as you are describing. My problems were fixed by reassembling the y-axis so it was surely as square as I could possibly make it with the tools and skills I had. I also readjusted the motor belts, they were a bit too tight (I think the official assembly instructions advice is too tight).
Re: XYZ Calibration fails on the 4th point
Hey guys, circling back. I spent several hours with the guys over at http://slackin.codehemi.com/ and we figured out the following. We suspect its a faulty pinda. Essentially, I manually moved, then powered up and lowered the pinda to each calibration point on the pei sheet till the light turned off and then verified a sheet of paper could pass underneath the nozzle at each of the 9 points. Then reran xyz and it fails at the 4th point, run again and its at the 3rd point, run again then it makes it to the 9 calibration sequence and fails at the 5th point and so on and so on. Prusa support agreed and they are sending a new pinda probe. We shall see.
