Problem after upgrade MK2 -> MK2S

I am experiencing X-axis shifting after having upgraded my MK2 to MK2S. The usual tricks don't work and I would welcome some troubleshooting guidance.

1. Belt's tension is correct
2. There is no slippage of the pulley
3. Mode is set to either (auto power) or (high)
4. There is nothing in the way of the x-carriage
5. Latest firmware was installed as part of the upgrade

The one thing which I have noticed is that the lower rod holding the x-carriage has a very thin groove along its length. Is this normal or could a defective bearing be the cause of my problems?

Many thanks!

Phil

The groove in the lower rod could well have been caused by a seized ball in the bearing. A quick fix would be to re-lubricate, or better replace, the bearing, and rotate it around the rod by say 45 deg, so that the balls do not touch the rod where the groove is located. You could also just replace the faulty bearing and damaged rod. Both available from Ebay sellers, but quality unknown. Otherwise buy a full set of rods and a pack of 10 bearings from Prusa, about €40 plus postage.

@David:

Many thanks for your reply and your help with this.

I think that you are right. Having replaced both rods and the bearings, I am now well into a 15 hour print without any issue.

All the best

Phil
