Upgrade to MK2.5 - Mistake with Heatbed Cables
First let me say I have never built from kit. Both of mine were assembled. I'm using that as my excuse for having this problem, because... ignorance.
Anyway, I have a mintemp error I can reproduce by moving the print bed. This happened because I didn't install the Nylon in the bundle. I don't know how I managed to overlook that with all the thoughts about how floppy things wound up being and how strange that is. It worked for a long time, but last night it bit me. 5 minutes later I realized just how dumb I had been. I immediately ordered a couple thermistors to have on hand. Those come with capton tape, etc.
MY QUESTION: Should I wait for the new parts, or can I transfer the old thermistor from the old heated bed without new capton tape and the other stuff?
And before you ask, yes, I'll be pulling the nylon out of my old bed and installing it here with my repair so I avoid this nonsense in the future. And I'm going to need to use this experience as a justification to my wife that a new printer is needed in kit form for my own educational reasons. That's reasonable, right?

Just in case this question gets searched on by anyone in the future, I'll give you the answer I came away with today after exploratory surgery and a few decisions.
First off, there was no physical signs of wear on the cables for either the thermistor or the heated bed. I could however move the bed back and forth when things were up to temperature and recreate the problem.
Second, the instructions for the mk2.5 upgrade, which I reviewed during this exercise do indeed not include the nylon support filament I was referring to. I did however opt to include it now, and because I did a disappearing sock trick with the textile sleeve, I also converted back to the spiral wrap. Because there was no hole to stick the nylon into on the heatbed cover, I simply wedged it underneath the connector sleeves for the heatbed so it would clamp in place. No sharp edge pressure on the thermistor wire.
Third, I did gingerly remove and re-use the Kapton tape, but I used regular aluminum tape from the garage from an insulation project I recently did. It appears the old mk2 thermistor is working excellently well. If things go sideways later, I will simply redo all this work with the replacement parts from Prusa later this week or next.
At this point it looks to be printing well again.
