Magnet sizes and sources

Hello all.  I'm a bit late to the party.  But I decided to finally upgrade my 2S to a 2.5S.  I used the free shipping this last weekend to order all the parts individually from Prusa that matched this sheet.  https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/upgrading-mk2-s-and-mk2-5-s-to-mk2-5s_20000

Looking at the other parts I need, i think by reusing many from the 2s, and some screws I have on hand, there won't be too much extra things I need.  But I believe the stainless steel ball, and the magnets are going to be a couple (off the top of my head I don't know of anything else).  I can source the 7mm SS ball on amazon.  But I'm having a tougher time with the exact size magnets.  Do you folks think that 5mm wide ones would work with a shim in the slot?  And does anyone see a problem with cutting down a 20mm long one to make a 10mm one?  I also assume these are just normal magnets, and not rare earth/neodymium ones, correct? Or alternatively if someone knows a good source for the correct size magnets (20x6x2 & 10x6x2) at a reasonable price and shipping time, I'd be interested in that as well.

Thanks in advance folks,

Steven

Thanks Joan.

I didn't know the kits came with both the magnets and ss ball before.  I think you are right, I will just order one of those.  I even see one of the Polish ones on the US Amazon store.  I sorta wish I had noticed that before ordering all the other parts from Prusa, but now I will have an extra sensor (think it is 12v).

Well at least this post is here for the next person who tries to do the same thing.

Steven

RE:

Magnetism is caused by the motion of electric charges. Every substance is made up of tiny units called atoms.
