Webcams for XL + Prusaconnect
I have been told by several folks on the Discord server to use Wyze Cams for monitoring Prusa printers. Do those cameras run independent of Prusaconnect or are they able to connect? If so, what model? I am thinking of the Pan-Tilt model so it can keep an eye as the head moves around the bed.

RE: Webcams for XL + Prusaconnect
Hello,
afaik Prusa is currently only supporting mobile Phones as Webcam (and MK3S+ with PI Zero may be the PI cam).
I used the mobile Phone function, which is "just" a webpage which uses the camera to take a picture and upload it to Prusa Connect to find to way to do with other cams:
curl -sL http://<somelocalcam>/webcam/snapshot | curl --header "Content-type: image/jpg" --header "fingerprint: <yourfingerprint>" --header "token: <your token>" -X PUT https://connect.prusa3d.com/c/snapshot -T /dev/stdin -v
Another way I tested: I used node-red (in my case part of Home Assistant) to grep a webcam image and upload.

I have a Wyze Cam v3 mounted via its magnetic plate to the upper right extrusion. Can see the whole sheet from that angle. And no, the Wyze cams are not recognized by PrusaConnect but I think their quality is way superior to Pi cams and the app is easy to use.

Here's a snapshot I just took. And yes, I know the sheet looks like shit and needs to be cleaned 🙂

Hmm, food for thought. My Camera Module 3 turned out to be defective and is being replaced. I have an M12 camera on its way which I am going to test out and maybe with some clever scripting I can get it to automatically do what I want it to do. Plan B will involve a Wyze cam of some flavor. I just deployed a pair of Pan Tilt Model 3 cameras in my house and I am working on getting them to activate when we have the Ring alarm turned on via the magic of IFTTT.

I have a Wyze cam i got from Home Depot for cheep. I want to say about $25 or $30. I got it to monitor the MK3. It was easy to set up and the quality of the picture is nice, but it is setup for monitoring your home. And they expect you to sign up with their software. Without their software i can only monitor the printer on my phone. I cannot connect to the camera from my laptop. I am not going to sign up for a subscription fee when i can use other cameras without the subscription fee.

You don't need a subscription for the basic video monitoring, only for advanced security functions I don't use. My primary use is for monitoring prints while I'm on the go so the app is perfect. At home I run the iOS app on my MacBook. I don't know about Windows.

I used an Amazon fire tablet I had previously used for monitoring and managing my printers through Octoprint but no longer use. So, it doesn't have to be a phone.

Hello @fuchsr,
According to the helpdesk from Wyze the V3 cam has a minimum focus distance of 6 feet. Did you do anything special to make the camera work at such a close range?
Thanks
