Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread

I preordered one today and I can’t wait.  I want the 5 print head model but ordered just one.  I might change that when I finalize the order for delivery.

Anyone else chomping at the bit?

Also preordered right after watching the video. Clicked 2 Toolheads and semi assembled but will change to 5 toolheads. Only thing left is if I want to spend the 500€ on assembly service or filament ^^

Doesn't look disappointing

I find it attractive in features, I'll probably be getting one or two.

RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread

Got the notification from a friend that the XL commercial is up and its available for preorder. I bought it because I need this type of print size for a project that might allow me to start my own company. Build size is key. Now I hoped it would have the initial 40x40x40 cm build room as announced, but 36 is better than 25 of the current MK3S.

Yes, yes. I could have just bought or build another printer but with the XL not too far off in the distance, the XL it will be. It was a convenient release for me. All my Prusas are reliable and pretty much trouble free. I need to spend my time somewhere else than to tinker with experimental machinery. There will be a lot of stuff to do. The 3D printer is just one of the many tools required. Albeit a key one.

I think they did a pretty good job on this one. Once I saw the Dubai Expo photos and concepts, I understood why Prusa was in no hurry to hasty reveal the XL.

RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread

Hey man, i´ve been reading your replies on the forum for quite a while. I knew you would be one of the first to jump on the XL boat.

I took on the risk of getting 1 5 tool and 2 double tool.

Gotta say that after checking the video, i was amazed at lots of stuff that I hadn't even imagine. I am quite amazed at the segmented heated bed; that was completely out of my radar. I hope the embedded board on the extruders does not end as shown in the video. I would be really scared that the guys here at the workshop, do something to it. I hope they put a cover on it or something.

Other than that, I started comparing with other choices; Mosaic Element/E3D TC. However, at this price point, this is honestly, the best option out there.

Been looking quite a lot at mihaidesigns work lately, but he just becamed overshadowed by what Prusa just launched. I am overwhelmingly excited hahaha

I'm interested to know what you'd use the XL for in your business, such that it's worth buying 3?  Forgive the direct question.

I’m in for one. By the way I knew that I would at least get the dual headed one, but then I thought in for  penny, in for 3500 bucks and went with the five. I didn’t realize you could change it later.

I will be using it to print large nose cones and fin cans for customers.

Right off the website:

Once your order is about to be shipped, you will receive a notification with the option to edit your order - select a specific XL version, add accessories, add-ons, filaments, etc. The deposit will be deducted from the total price.

RE: Unofficial Prusa XL Waiting Thread

Just pre-ordered one Prusa XL with 5 tool heads.
Was considering the 2 tool head, but decided for the 5 tool head as more heads will make it possible to mix different materials and nozzle sizes. Prints with mixed PETG and TPU having support in a different material.

Have the Prusa MMU2S, but it is kind of a disappointment as it will only mix different colors and not materials as I hoped for when buying it.

In the video or blog post it was mentioned that PrusaSlicer would be upgraded to support different nozzle sizes for faster printing, mixing sizes in the same part. Inner perimeters/infill could be printed with a large nozzle and the shell with the smaller to preserve details.

It was also mentioned that Prusa is thinking on other tools than extruders: I am thinking small CNC, laser...

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Ok started with the Mini in 2020 waiting for my SL1S to be delivered and placed a preorder for 1x XL 5 tool heads...
Seems to be the perfect eco system to produce some custom equipment for motion picture production... Resin & FDM printer supported by Prusa Slicer... Nice 😉

It’s cute you think that I was reading the fine print or paying attention to details when I was putting in my pre-order. I was just trying to get my free order in as fast as possible.

hehe. Haven't heard this phrase in a long time and it's a good one.

Put my order in about an hour ago. Already filled with the silly anxiety that by not placing an order immediately on announcement it will be 2025 before mine arrives. 😀

That said, it does make it a bit easier to save up over the months for the impending cost.

I do like saving for it,  That is a huge plus.

I so want to pull the plug and order one but honestly not sure why I need it at this point. I will take a wait and see approach, save my pennies just in case, and then decide what do in the summer.

I really like the Prusa XL toolchanger and extruder design.

It's interesting to see Prusa's tool changer design approach compared to E3D's toolchanger.
