Happy for you. DHL never bothered to put it on a truck as promised today. Elevated to a supervisor but still no reason why it’s vacationing in Baltimore this weekend. DHL does not deliver on weekends.

I just received the "complete the pre-order" email of my semi-assembled 1-head XL, order was made on Feb 23rd 2022.

I have a 5 head semi on order, I wonder if I cut the number of heads back would I get it faster? Three would be the minimum I’d like to get. But I worry that extra heads aren’t going to be available for 6 months at least.

I tried CHAT. Wait time of 36 minutes. I was disconnected after waiting 15 minutes. USELESS. They don't want to answer these questions.

I was told 25 minutes initially got down to 11 looked away for a minute and I was deactivated and thrown off got back on again. Luckily it said 11 minutes again, worked all the way down to one minute and then I just sat there for 15 minutes. Not cool.
I know it’s an odd time and early morning on a Sunday back there, but if they aren’t going to answer, just say you’re not going to answer I wouldn’t have a problem with that. Just don’t make me waste 45 minutes.

What I find interesting, if true, I saw a post on reddit [1] where it seems person who came up in the queue for single head version was able to get switched to 5 head model. In a later post same person claims they got their 5 head. So on the upside 5 heads seem to be shipping, on the downside looks like more folks can end up getting into the 5 head queue that were not there at initial pre-order.

I saw that, too. I checked my single-head semi-assembled order and found that it now allowed me to change it to a five-tool. The order wouldn't complete when I entered payment data, so I opened the chat and they changed it. I was able to make my payment. My original order for a single-tool semi-assembled was placed on January 3rd, 2022 at almost 10pm. We'll see how long it takes to show up!

Thinking about changing my 5head semi to a single assembled, and then changing it back to a 5 head semi so that it will actually ship….

So, a 25 min wait turned into a 40 minute, with the 2 min wait being over 10 minutes long…
Then they tell me that my order time is still hours away from ‘switching’ which I thought was a ‘shipping’ Engrish- but that is just the first step, then it goes to shipping after a couple of weeks. So, even though I ordered within minutes of the email (i know all the particulars on that), I’m still weeks away from ‘switching’ and then weeks away from shipping…. No real time frame, they admit that they don’t have any clue about the time frame.
Incompetent really doesn’t quite get the full failure here.

So you ordered a single tool Jan 3rd 2022, and were able to convert that to a 5-tool semi and they've processed your order already!? I mean I'm happy for your good fortune, but a more than a little pissed at how Prusa has handled the pre-order and rollout of the XL, especially if folks are essentially jumping the line in front of those of us who have been waiting for almost 2 years for this. I understand their explanations for the phased rollout, but once things got moving they should have prioritized earlier orders over continuing to ship the single-head units. They also should have gotten their XL house in order before releasing the MK4, especially since the reason the XL was behind was supposed to be supply chain issues on micro-controllers, and the MK4 and XL are using the same chips. I'm a big fan of Prusa printers and the company as a whole, and has always been my #1 recommendation for folks looking at getting into the hobby or for business use, but I tell you what my experiences with the Mini pre-order and even more so the XL pre-order has taken a LOT of the shine off for me. >:(

I stopped buying filament from them months ago after Matterhackers hit it out of the park on customer service on a problem.
Then I dropped over $1000 in ‘pre-order’, really hostage money, for various Prusa gear.
I’ll make them get the XL after two years of waiting, but I’m going to bug the living crap out of them.
That and I’ve bought my last Prusa printer after I get the XL.
My family donated a pile of cash for our kids school science center and they were planning on using Prusa, which I’ll get them to reconsider.
Getting my state of mind on this?

No way this isn’t a filament issue it’s an XL issue and pretty common across the board with other XL users …… among other issues sadly

This is not a filament issue causing severe stringing ….
It’s a pretty common issue with XL machines from what I’ve seen and it hasnt been determined if it’s a firmware ( hardware ) issue or software ( slicer ) issue
Had my 2 tool unit ( factory assembled ) returned to Prusa ( after 2 months of pure headache ) , as there was not only severe issues with stringing , blobs , blisters , under extrusion , extruder flow issues , loading issues , bed level issues , crossed threaded screws etc …
The MK4 I had gotten with new updated nextruder prints flawless . Now I can take that exact roll from the XL and put the same model on the MK4 and it’ll print perfectly .
To me I believe it’s a combination of extruder setups are not optimized yet on the XL yet , the slicer profiles are no where near optimized correctly for the XL and with the size of the machine it really needs to get input shaping already .
My replacement machine should be here Mon / Tues and I’m really hoping to have a better experience with the new machine . The machine I really can be a beast with the size and features . It’s been 2 years it should’ve been a lot more refined and polished by now .
