Multi-colour or multi-material prints

Like many, I'm reviewing my options/choices between the XL and other printers (Bambu). With the Bambu, you have 1 print head & the AMS that can accommodate 4 spools. The AMS can be expanded to support 4 holders for a total of 16 spools. My question is, if a 5 head Prusa XL supports 5 materials. Is there anyway to expand this or would the only option be to have an MMU set up? My end goal is for large, multi-colour or multi-material prints.

RE:

You could connect an MMU or Palette to any of the heads, but it's doubtful if this will be implemented in the respective software. You'd probably have to do it yourself.
Or you could change the filament on any idle head manually. I'm pretty sure they'll implement this feature somehow sooner or later, and until then you can juryrig your way around it. Aside from that, more heads would be very complex as they don't fit inside the enclosure.

For real multimaterial you need toolchanging (or at least 2 independent hotends), if you only want multicolor it's overkill if you don't mind the purge material.
