XL: How many heads?

How many heads are you buying at the start?  Are you going to get a single head and just upgrade later?

I ordered 5. I figure that the extra 2 months will allow other folks to do a lot of the debugging... 😉

I was at sea when the XL was announced and didn't order (or know about it) until over a week later so I reckon my wait will be a lot more than 2 months ... but I should have a trouble free start as compensation.

I ordered 5 heads, my use case only requires four but I reckon a spare won't hurt.

Having said that my plan is to start with one, print a few large cases then gradually add filaments/heads over time as I learn the characteristics of the machine.  I don't care about colours except possibly as labels but I do want to combine different filaments in functional mechanisms with soluble seperation so they become operable print-in-place units.

Cheerio,

I ordered 2 Heads.
Currently there is no option for a 3 head configuration.

RE: XL: How many heads?

When I got Josefs tweet ping, I insta ordered 5 heads about 20 mins after the announcement.
Even with all delays it is still a no brainer for me 🙂
Will wait until all heads are available.

RE:

I ordered after the recent "update" and I don't recall them asking me how many heads I wanted. Hopefully I answered one because in the video he said it would be possible to add more. (EDIT; I only ordered one, but I can change it when my time to pay comes up)

For me, I really only think I would want two. I don't desire to do any multi-color printing, but the idea of use the PLA supports on more complex PETG prints is extremely tantalizing. I'd also like to have TPU in the mix at times as well.

Hmmm... maybe I DO need three...

RE: XL: How many heads?

Two heads. The reason for ordering the XL was the actual multi material anyway. Eventually i'm going to go for the 3+ heads. I have prints that i want to do using PETG and PLA as supports and really cant wait for the printer, but for the extra 1 or two heads and the additional board i can wait for others to troubleshoot that part

RE: XL: How many heads?

One for main material.

One for cf nylon structural internals, possibly with larger nozzle.

One for text, with smaller nozzle.

One for fast infill with cheapest possible material, larger nozzle.

One for TPU or (possibly soluble) support material, as needed.

RE: XL: How many heads?

See now, that's making a lot of sense that's gonna cost me more money.

I hadn't thought of that potential, but I like it.
