RE: Why is OpenPrintTag so expensive?

Sad.  I will still buy Prusa Orange and Galaxy Black.

Too bad that Prusa stopped offering the normal version without NFC, because that has pushed me to decide to no longer buy Prusa filament, except for Prusa Orange.

Except for Prusa Orange, the rest of the colors (galaxy black included) are available from other vendors (like Polymaker) for 1/2 the price.

I have started testing alternatives.  I don’t have a Galaxy black  PETG alternative yet.  I have found an ABS and ASA.  I never print PLA.  My customer base has no use for it.

Instead of PETG, switch to PCTG. It's a much better material. I have a roll of this: Pro PCTG, Galaxy Black

RE:

I think the reason is very simple: all production costs are sky rocketing in Europe, and also them were force to increase the price. Very simple and easy.
And the RFID ? Just a marketing idea to try to edulcorate the price increase to the users... 😆 I think that at their mass production the RFID cost impact on the spool cost is peanuts.

Between a simple price increase, and a price increase with an added feature in the product, I prefer this last.  😉

While the Iran crisis might change that for many other plastic types, the feedstock for PETG is dirt cheap, as it is basically made from a waste product that is obtained while extracting gas and even now it's still readily available. This is why many other European filament manufacturers are making PETG for €15 a spool. Some of Prusa's prices are ridiculous.
