Slic3r PE will not run under Windows 10 Home
For over a week I have been unable to run Slic3r PE, ANY version, under Win 10 on my laptop.
It was working, it now is not. I have uninstalled, later tries also cleaning up left behind folders, etc, uninstall does not touch to no effect. Numerous times, numerous versions.
Install appears to complete OK, files seem to be present where needed.
When the Slic3r PE icon is double clicked (or run from inside its folder), the computer runs the HDD light for some seconds, then just ends. No messages, no action. It is not locked up. Details of what happens are on Github. Issue #1271 (and another person with similar issue as #1285)
I currently have the latest builds of Slic3r PE and Slic3r on my desktop. Slic3r runs, Slicer PE does not.
Slic3r PE works OK on a Win 7 Laptop (same versions used on both computers at same time tested, several versions tested)
Prusa Control runs OK, but I'm told that uses an older integrated version of Slic3r.
Pronterface runs until a .stl is loaded, then errors on Slic3r PE files (details on Github)
Anyone else have this issue?

can you run it as administrator? or compatibility mode? are you the Czech republic 😀 < I hear it helps

Cannot run Period! SO many tries, SO many variations, all failed.
Obviously as soon as I found it ran under Win 7 I tried various compatibility settings, no good.

I have a similar problem. When I download the devices and drivers update file for the MK2/S the download runs but when try to install I get a message telling me that some files are corrupted.

I'm having the same issue here... worked this afternoon, no longer works for me. Has anyone found any solutions?

Some users reported corruption of slic3r.ini
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Slic3rPE\slic3r.ini
you may try to backup the whole Slic3rPE directory
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Slic3rPE
and delete it, in that case Slic3r will open the installation wizard.
If that helps, we would be interested in the content of your Slic3rPE directory, we need to analyze what happened.

I have the same error when trying to install to a new Windows 10 PC. It is a completely fresh Dell Inspiron 5680. The only software on it is TurboCAD. I can't find any directories labeled AppData or Roaming. They don't appear to be in the User directory or any of the Windows directories.
