Head temperature set point and PID-I factor.
Hi,
I got hold of an old Prusa i3 Mk1 the problem I'm having is that the temperature of the extruder won't reach the set heat. It's always 10 deg low, and so the print wont start. Knowing a bit about PID controllers I adjusted the PID-I factor. The default is 1.09 and I set it to just over 2 and this normally does the job and the head reached the target and starts the print.
Anyone have any idea why this preset might be off or why the value needs to be changed? Also is there a way to save a new preset?
Regards,
Reasnd
RE: Head temperature set point and PID-I factor.
Update on my heater PID issue. The original extruder fan housing/clip that came with the printer had broken and my son had replaced it with a more open style housing. This housing did not prevent air flow down toward the heater block. As I have now reprinted and installed the original fan housing there is no temperature issue any more. I believe that the added cooling of the fan on the heater block was the reason why the PID controller was not hitting the set point temperature at higher temperatures.

Im sorry i dont unterstand how you fixes your issues ?
RE:
Adjusting the PID-I factor to reach the target temperature suggests a calibration issue or a change in the printer's environment. It would be helpful if the printer's settings page allowed saving new presets for consistent performance.
