Problem with input shaper in vase mode
Hello, i found a problem in vase mode with the input shaper. It is not seamless as it should be.
There is nothing to be seen in the slicer, but in printing he makes a small movement with the print head. Always at the point where the seam is in the slicer.
If I use the normal profile of the MK4 it looks no different in the slicer but the print is normal.
Can someone please check on his MK4 whether he behaves exactly like this or whether it is only with me.
Otherwise I make an error message in the Prusa Slicer Github. Thanks very much.
The same place. The only difference with IS and normal profile.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
Confirmed. I have the same issue with my MK4 Input Shaping firmware.
Tested with both perimeter generation mode (Classic or Arachne), i get the same results as on the top picture.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
I have now seen that there is already an entry on Github.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
Glad I'm not the only one. Yes, seeing the exact same phenomenon in vase mode.
RE:
+1 - seeing this as well, on the 5.0.0 RC firmware.
Using the non-Input shaper profile as a workaround still works.
EDIT: it would be nice to have some toggable setting to disable input shaping or have vase mode automatically disable input shaping, as switching the physical printer takes more steps in the UI. It can be alleviated by having multiple physical printers with the different settings.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
You can slice with the standard MK4 setting and send it to the MK4with IS. All IS settings are in the gcode, therefore if you slice with the standard MK4 IS will not activated.
In the release notes to the neww IS SW there is mentioned that it will give different IS settings for speed or more structural focus: (see)
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
It's more about the fact that he makes a seam where he shouldn't. Normally in vase mode it should continuously increase the z height.
I need to download an older version of Prusa slicer again to verify this behavior. It's not quite ok with the normal profile either.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
+1 5.0.0 RC
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
I found when I commented out M74 W[extruded_weight_volume] in printer settings ->custom g-code in the before layer change section in prusa slicer the seam dissapeared. Perhaps there is some bad/heavy maths happening with the weight calculation.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
Good catch. That would explain why non-IS doesn't have the issue, since that's specifically fed into the IS algorithm. Would also explain why it's not that big of a deal for non-vase mode, as any delay going to the next layer would be hidden by the seam that's already necessary.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
It looks like the problem is fixed with the final 5.0.
RE: Problem with input shaper in vase mode
I wouldn’t say completely fixed. There still is a little seam even with removing the gcode for weight compensation. It was much worse when i had it in, but gave away that print. Done with stock .4mm nozzle and .8 wall thickness at .2mm layer height.
