Bgcode files not recognised

I am trying to print on my Mk4 with input shaping profiles using Prusa Slicer. Firmware and slicer are upto date.

Problem is that the exported Bgcode for the models does not appear on the memory stick on the Mk4 (can be seen in the windows file explorer) also trying to upload over Prusa connect results in a message saying unsupported media type, Not Gcode.

Just noticed that it is doing this with any export from slicer even using non IS profiles, which means I can't print anything.

Am i missing something obvious, this is getting frustrating.

Chris.

Which firmware version for the MK4 are you using?

You have to be on firmware 5.1.0 or your printer has no idea what a bgcode file is.

Formerly known on this forum as @fuchsr -- until all hell broke loose with the forum software...

RE:

Anyway, it's quite simple to export files as ASCII gcode, regardless of the firmware version.

Go to ’Printing configuration’ in the menu. Click on  ‘output settings’ and see if the tab ‘export as binary gcode’ is enabled. If so, just uncheck it and the file will be sent to the printer as ordinary ASCII gcode instead of binary bgode.  (You must be on 'expert' mode to see this option on the menu ).

I'm having the same issue.  Just downloaded newest firmware 5 miuntes ago, and it doesn't recognize it.  Also the menu I'm being told to go to to turn it off does not exsist in the slicer.  Anybody else have ideas?

OK, figured it out.  Need to do the following:

Menu:Configuration/Mode/Expert.

Tab/Window: Printer Settings/General/Supports Binary G-code - Unselect.

For me it did not recognize the Prusa generated filename. I changed it to biteme.bgcode and all is fine.

Here the same problem, sometimes, not always. Also when using gcode files. Changing the filename (I usually make it shorter) and the file is accepted. So it has to do with the filename, not the content of the file. A bit strange.

there is also a maximum character limit on file names from other posts/issues I've read.  Regardless of file type.

Addition:

if the filename contains a "#" (hashtag) it also causes this error. Has been driving me mad half the day.

Ive been going through the ringer i think under the same scenarios above, when you say remove the "#" is it from the files name it gets exported to save onto computer or USB memory stick etc etc saving device one is using ?? TIA
