RE:
I just updated my Mini+ from the stable firmware to Alpha 2. I am overwhelmed about the speed! I never heard such amazing sounds from my baby since i have bought it.
This is awesome! With one word: WOW!
Thank you Prusa! :))

Not only an amazing speed increase, but also much more quiet, really like it

Hey!
I just got my first BSOD when uploading a GCode from pursa splicer using pursa connect.
I wonder if anybody else got it in this scenario.
RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
I think the conclusion I’ve come to is that I can’t stream bgcode to the Mini+ over Connect. If I upload (no queue, no start), and wait for the file to finish copying, I can back out of the pre-load then start the filly downloaded file.

RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
I had this issue twice on alpha2 FW, but only during coping and just reviewing models in GUI, no issues at all during printing. In my case it happen after few prints one after the other, and i spotted that counter of prints added between prints, so something weird, and eventually my board had a BSOD with "Out of heap memory" so looks like it's just early alpha software stage, of error with code adaptation for the smaller memory available for the board in mini. To mitigate it, i just do reboot after a few prints, so far so good 🙂
RE:
I'm still having issues if I try to start the print before the file is fully on the printer, or if I try to start it from the automatic prompt on the printer itself.
If I start it from Connect after I know it's had plenty of time to download (+1-5 minutes after the download progress), or from the prompt on the Mini+ screen, it's an instant reboot, panic, prompt to save kernel state.
Otherwise, print quality (especially after belt tuning) is obscenely good. It's actually a bit better than the XL with IS firmware at the moment.
RE:
Is anyone else on alpha2 having troubles connecting to Octoprint?
With alpha1, I had occasional crashes if I started preheating on the MINI's display and then tried to connect to Octoprint, but it otherwise worked well. But now with alpha2, I can't get Octoprint to connect to the printer at all.
RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
I haven't printed anything with it yet, but the just-released 5.1.0-beta seems to fix the Octoprint connection issues. The release notes indicate that Octoprint support is in alpha status and the pause/resume and STOP functions do not work.

Hi @superjudge!
I manage to make the printer fail in more scenarios 🙂
It seems if you send several commands from Prusa Connect the printer has the tendency to go out of memory. For instance, I send a gcode to be copied in the printer and in theme while I delete some of the old files in the printer through Prusa Connect; this eventually will provoke a BSOD when you start the next print. How interesting...
I can wait to test the beta just released which addresses file transfer issues from Prusa Connect.

I just upgraded the firmware to the Beta yesterday, and was going to post today that the Beta fixed the panic when I immediately start the print.

RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
Dear friends,
I installed FW 5.1.0 and my MINI+ is now flying, amazing! However, some strange things are happening, when I start a print, when the temperature is 50ºC the nozzle fan activates and the MINI displays an error message: "Hotend fan not spinning...", I have to reset it and have it printed again. Once again the error appears but when you press continue, printing starts. Note that during the error the fan runs at a very low speed, only after the reset and after the second error, the fan actually starts at high speed.
Did this happen to any of you?
Does anyone have any solution for this? Or is it really a FW problem that still needs to be fixed?

Hi,
I didn’t have any fan error neither in the alphas o final version.
Check with support.

Hey Elmo!
I saw that you have the extruder modified.
have you tried to print with input shipping? Is it better than before? Is there some weird printing artifacts or smth?
I am very curious how other steppers or extruder are behaving with input shaping.
RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
Hi Daniel
No problem with Input Shaper printing.
Yes, it is better and faster.
Everything works correcty.
Example:
old firmware: time printing: 9h 40 min
new firmware: time printing: 6h 20 min

Try updating your firmware to version 4.4.1 first, and then applying the newest firmware after that. That worked for me after getting this same error.

RE: 5.1.0-alpha1 Firmware for Original Prusa MINI/MINI+ with Input Shaper and Prusa Connect!
Thank you very much for this update. I usually check belt tension every couple weeks and they were fine when I did and upgrade. I was in a middle of printing some trays and gave it a try. Comparing results I'd say I love how fast things happening but I see a lot of vibration if it is a thin item with a lot of turns or branches but using Structural profile helps a lot. so far I didn't notice any issues. With benchy, there was some underextrusion and I did a cleanup on nozzle and did a few cold pulls. Also, blow the dust out of extruder after unloading filament. Second print of that 16 minute benchy came out good. not super good at least, seams look a bit funky but I really don't care. I have some models that used to print for 18 hours in .15 layer height 6 perimeters and 60% infill. now they print in 7 hours with same good results. But noticed after importing that Input Shaping profiles use Grid infill.
