Satin sheets

Anyone using these? What needs to be printed on these new sheets?

RE: Satin sheets

I am referring to the steel sheets we use to print on.   What is the satin sheet used for?

RE: Satin sheets

Best thing since sliced bread. They print anything I've thrown at them great. Adhesion is awesome, and models pop right off when the sheet has cooled down. I moved all my printers over to satin,  haven't used the smooth sheet at all and the only times I go back to textured is if I print parts that need to blend in with the "Prusa design language".

I use glue stick for PC and TPU, as a separating agent.

RE: Satin sheets

According the knowledge database "the Satin sheet, which in both texture and properties lies between the smooth and the textured sheet". The satin sheet became my default print bed using PLA and PETG. Basically I would use another surface if I wish to have ultr smooth finished surface or more tectured finished surface.

RE: Satin sheets

I have bought it yesterday and today i've print some ASA and it works like a charme, with perfect adesion.

Do you have test it with small parts in PLA?

Is the bed adhesion still better for PLA with smooth PEI sheet?

I have bought it to print PETG and ASA but i'd like to test it also with PLA.

RE: Satin sheets

It prints perfectly with PLA. It's my go-to sheet for everything. The only time I ever dust the cobwebs off the smooth sheet is if I need a super smooth surface, e.g., to glue parts together. Otherwise, it's the satin sheet for any material.

Thanks fuchsr

For small parts is brim required?
And what about longevity? Do you clean it with IPA? (i have read that you can clean it only when it's cold).

I'll try it tomorrow with PLA (i have some small parts to print)

RE: Satin sheets

Cleaning: IPA between prints, dish washing soap and hot water every couple of weeks or so, or whenever it feels it's necessary. Cold vs hot has nothing to do with the sheet type. IPA is an alcohol, so volatile at higher temperatures. When the sheet is cold, the IPA has more time to do its job. Having said that, I'm certainly known for having applied it while the sheet is hot, to save time between prints...

Small parts: again, no difference I can see between the satin sheet and others. Some models with little contact surface may require a brim, others won't.

One of the nice things of the sheet is that with PLA and PETG, you get great adhesion but when he sheet cools down, the parts just pop off.

Oh, and remember that the thickness of the satin sheet is more like the textured sheet, so about 0.4 mm thinner than the smooth sheet. You want to redo your live z calibration for sure and save it into a sheet profile.

RE:

Yes sure, i have created two profiles for these sheets with different z-layer height.

With ASA i had a perfect print at the first attempt, also with PETG works great... i haven't test it yet with PLA.

I was asking you about cold-hot cleaning procedure with IPA because on the PRUSA label over the sheet packaging i read:
" CLEAN ONLY WHEN COLD! DO NOT CLEAN WITH ACETONE! "

It sounded strange also to me this "clean only when cold" .
