Prusa Mini as 2D Pen Plotter, Settings

Hi. I'd like to experiment using my Prusa Mini as a 2D Pen Plotter. Something like this

Has anyone tried this, yet and can recommend...

  1. Custom PRUSA slicer/printer settings for this use case
  2. a process to convert SVGs to GCODE (including on/off adjustments for the Z)
  3. A pen brackets for attaching a pen to the printing head

I'd very much appreciate any Prusa Mini specific advice and insights.

RE:

haven't tried it but that's what I would try to do:

1. you probably want to copy existing profile and then
printer profile
- remove any gcodes in Printer settings except Pause Print and Color Cahnge, uncheck 'emit temperature commands'
- in start gcode add G1 Z2 or something like that to move the head before toucing the surface and thus ruinng plotting
- in Extruder 1 set nozzle diameter to whatever you have and increase Travel Lift - Lift Height to someghing like 2mm, disable any retractions
filament profile
- make a new filament , you can set temperatures to something like 22C for hotend/bed and disable cooling, you could try to disable any extruder moves
- disable filament sensor

print settings profile
- no skirt, no brim, no supports
- avoid crossing perimeters
- tweak infill or disable infill

2. can be done with inkscape
3. https://www.printables.com/search/models?q=prusa%20mini%20pen

4. in PrusaSlicer investigate generated gcode and see it step by step how it goes (arrow keys), and model should have 1 layer I guess. Could custom gcode per layer if each layer is different color to move the head up to custom location + pause to change the color + move back and head down prior print (not sure about the last step though)

See my GitHub and printables.com for some 3d stuff that you may like.
