Print pauses and won't resume. I don't know why or how to progress.

Perhaps this is a case of the printer being smarter than me, but I don't know where to go from here.

I modelled the thing I want to print, made .stl, then sliced in prusaSlicer.

I put the gcode on the USB stick, setup the printer and press print.

I've tried twice, the first time the print paused on 3%, the second time on 1%.

I tried to resume the print, and the printer 'hung' (would not response and was not active).

Has anyone had this problem?

Is this a common thing I've just not read about yet?

Is there same way to find out from the printer why it has paused?

I was going to share the .gcode but I don't see an option to do that in this forum?

I'm now printing something else that printed fine a few days ago, and that is 57% through without an issue, so I think it's specific to the part I was trying to print, rather than the printer.

Many thanks,

[edit - reading other posts, I can attach gcode if I zip it]

Ok, well I successfully printed something else.

I'm now on my third attempt and have reached 44%.

I have gradually becoming more casual with my temperature regulation - the first two prints there could have been a cool draught(now I have this room closed up and getting very hot).

Can a cold draught cause the printer to panic/pause?

@drmikeg

Can you try a different USB Stick?

Drafts normally cause warping rather than preventing extrusion.

what temperature are you printing at? very low temperatures can hit the firmware minimum print temperature limit...

I was recently printing at 170C, on my mk3S, and lowered the Minimum print temperature to enable printing.

Hi @joantabb - thanks for the reply.

I'm running with very much 'out of the box' settings - so I'm printing prusa pla filament at the recommended 200C/60C

Third time worked like a charm - so I'm none the wiser.

I've just put two copies of the same model on to print now, and I'll see if that works.

Does anyone know if there are there any log files or anything that can be reviewed after a failed print?

Is this a situation where something like Octoprint might give me more insight?

Thanks.
