Print lifting
I have printed this castle dice tower many many times in various colors. It is a 36 hour print. I typically print with prusament with prusament slicer settings. Have never had an issue until today.
The print is lifting on the bed. I will start by saying I cleaned with 91% IPA prior to print. I am wondering if room temperate is causing the lift? Now that it is winter it becomes 36 deg at night and the printer is inside but not in an area that is specifically heated.
Also, now the back of the print is lifting 🙁
RE: Print lifting
Sure, could be environmental conditions. Put a brim around it, and you'll be fine.
And hey, give me the link for the dice tower. I'm actually looking for a nice castle version!

RE: Print lifting
here is the link… I’ve searched high and low. It’s the coolest looking one.

Funny thing about adding a brim…… For the mini, it has to print at 79% for it to completely take up the full bed and height. If I add a brim, would it only add it to the sections on the bed or would it determine that it cannot print bc part of the file would be off the bed with this print? I had to even put the skirt at 0mm and I just file it off. If it goes any smaller, I’m worried D20s would get stuck.
RE: Print lifting
Thanks for the link! If it's that large, a brim won't fit on the bed. I would clean the sheet with soap and dish washing soap, then after drying wipe with IPA, and then use Layerneer bed weld, which I rarely need but works pretty well in my hands if a brim/mickey mouse ears are not an option.

I ended up printing a couple of copies of that dice tower! Thanks again for the link. It looks great! I printed it on my Mk3S+ at 85%, 0.6mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height.

RE: Print lifting
Ooh-how long does that take to print? Mine is 36 hrs but I’m at 0.4mm nozzle. I’ve never played with nozzle changes but now I’m thinking I should to increase the speed. The last print was brittle. I did the same castle in galaxy silver with no lifting. So, I dried for a few days and I am trying galaxy black again tonight.
Glad you enjoy this print. It was actually the 3rd thing I’ve ever printed and I was just floored at the possibilities of 3D printing. I print these castles as gifts for friends. It’s my favorite print 🙂
RE: Print lifting
PS I love the moss and did you use lacquer?

Print time was 22.5 hours, so you get a lot of time savings from the larger nozzle. I was actually surprised how little is lost on detail. The only imperfection I can spot is a bit of a rough surface of the "courtyard".
Yes, I used polyurethane satin spray to protect the paint. Paint is four shades of gray stippled on, dark wash, light wash, and white dry brushing. Wood parts came out a bit too dark for my taste, but oh well, I'm not striving for perfection. And yes, Iused hobby grass, moss, and wood pieces for accents.
Another great print — more of a dice roller than a tower — is this one: https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-dice-o-matic-geared-dice-roller-153468
Largest print I ever printed, 72 hours or so. Took me three tries. But it was worth it (and the $4.50). One of my favorites.

RE: Print lifting
Those both look cool.
I wonder if putting a box or something over the printer would help? Give it a temporary enclosure to even the environmental temperature.

RE: Print lifting
That dice roller looks awesome! I will have to print it soon. Well, I finally opened a new spool of prusament to retry the print- 0 issues, I dried that first roll for 2 days and tried to print before I had the lifting print. I am glad it returned back to printing well but something is up with that particular spool of filament as I have no issues with a new roll of the same color. I was going to message support to see what else I should do other than drying to finish use of that spool.
RE: Print lifting
Glad to hear it's working.
Sometimes you just end up with a bad spool. One reason I like to order on Amazon is, I've sent a few spools back after failing to get them to work and got my money back, no questions asked.

What are your favorite spool brands on Amazon ? I tried GizmoDorks and that printed well. I just love the quality and color of prusament, but the shipping makes it harder. I get many rolls to make it worth the shipping.
RE: Print lifting
For day to day use I go with Overture and 3D Solutech. I also like the TTYT3D silk line of colors and their fast color changing filament a lot. The good thing is there are so many brands to choose from. Atomic, Sunlu, ESun are others I've used. Love Protopasta but they're expensive. Hard to go wrong these days unless you buy super cheap junk.

The Overture PETG is on special at Amazon at the moment. I picked up a few spools...

Thanks for this PSA! I loaded up on some of the colors. In a 2 pack less than $17 per spool, that's a good deal.
