Nozzle Keeps Catching Design

Whenever my printer is printing a build, the nozzle keeps snagging the model and ripping it off of the heat-bed.

RE:

Which filament type (PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA)? Do you see any corners of the part lifting off the printing surface?

I'm using the Hatchbox PLA filament. Typically there is a cracking noise and either an edge or corner will be lifted up.

The lifting off happens because of the nozzle catching on the part? Or the lifting off happens before that? Because if the part is lifting off the distance to the nozzle will not stay the same. If the part sticks to the bed everywhere the distance between part and nozzle should stay the same. Does the filament flow evenly or are there blobs?

The filament comes out evenly and does not leave any blobs. The part only lifts off after the nozzle catches on it. Could the problem be that the desk that the printer is on is too shaky or the nozzle is moving slightly downwards?

If you calibrated the printer correctly this should not happen. If in doubt perform a first layer calibration. Look up in the manual, how this should look if everything is set correctly.

You can also try to add a brim to the model in PrusaSlicer to make it stick better. But if the printer is okay, this should not happen, especially not with PLA. You can try another filament if the same happens there.

Okay. Thank you.

This is either a greasy print sheet - clean it and handle by the edges only, or a first layer 'Z' calibration in need of tweaking.

Please run a first layer 'Z' calibration and show us the result *on the print sheet.*

Also, if your nozzle is catching the print because overhangs are curling up, then your problem is insufficient cooling for the overhangs you are printing or print speeds which are too fast (or both). In that case, increase your cooling (if possible), slow down your print (can be done also on the printer by turning the knob on the main screen) and/or reorient your print in a way that the most challenging overhang is facing towards the parts cooler on the extruder.

I lowered the nozzle height by 1 mm and that fixed the problem. I believe that the filament was cooling too quickly so that when it reached the hot bed it could not stick sufficiently.
