First and last layers differ

Hi, got the first prints with my new MINI+ today and in general I'm deeply impressed by the first results without any optimization. Now the questions come up ;-). On the images below you see the difference between last and first layer as well as the chamfer of the object which is not the same on both sides (but should be). I have searched for that in the forum and could at least find a hint regarding the Live Z calibration. Could this be the issue here? I'm pretty sure that the reason is a wrong parameter but I don't know which one and if it is only one. I would understand the issue with a wrong Live Z (set too high) what should be put down to get a better first layer. However, what is confusing is the difference of the chamfer which seems to be 4 or 5 layers in height instead of 3 on the top. So is it only the Z position, is it related to the by default different infill pattern, anything else...?

So thanks a lot for hints how to optimize that.

RE: First and last layers differ

Bottom and top layers will always look different as the bottom layer gets squished more. From the photo your nozzle might be a bit high. I would use a calibration tool such as this https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/105404 to optimize the Live Z value. The chamfer, I can't tell from the photos.

It's always a good idea to include a zip-compressed 3mf project file to get the best advice. A 3mf file contains the model but most importantly also ALL your settings. In PrusaSlicer, go to File/Save project as, to create the 3mf file. Zip-compress it to turn it into a .zip file (right-click Compress on Mac and Win11, right-click Send to/Compress on Win 10). Attach the zipped file a post on this forum using Attach file below the text edit box. It has to be a zip file, or the forum software will silently reject it.

Thanks for the link to your calibration tool. I will try that first. Attached you will find the 3mf file. Thanks again for having a look at it. 👍

RE: First and last layers differ

Hi, just a feedback about the last result: The Flexi-Rex should have a width of 13 mm but it had a bit more than 13.1 mm, rather 13.15 mm. I have reduced Live Z using your pattern in steps of 0.020 mm first and the second print in steps of 0.010 mm. It changed from -1.150 to -1.300 and now it looks way better. I guess this was the main part of the issue. So for the moment it looks fine. More prints are following... 😉
