Crazy PETG stringing on mini

I recently got my Mini around a few weeks ago and have been mostly printing in PLA with some very very slight stringing but, once I tried PETg, the stringing is now quite crazy with Pruusament PETg and the default slicer profile. I suspect it's the humidity because where I live, humidity is around 80% year round. Would it make sense to get something like a filament dryer/container?

Yes, drying should help tremendously. I made one of these:

https://letsprint3d.net/how-to-make-a-filament-dryer/

They added 3D printed spool chambers to a cheap dehydrator. They have two stl files, one for large printers that won't fit on the mini, and one that is 1/6 of the part. I made one that is 1/3 of the part and just fits on the mini if you rotate it. It is more stable. The clips don't work well. I taped the pieces together with silver HVAC tape.

Regards,

Mark

You can get the files from my site:

At the bottom, get the v2segment73mmx2.stl to print, or v2segment73mmx2.scad if you want to make more changes in OpenSCAD.

Thanks!

I haven't looked at it. It does look like a good idea, especially if it is 80% humidity where you are. I pretty much am drying two spools at a time though and they stay dry for a day or so after being in the dryer for a few hours. So, I am not drying while printing. It might be worse where you are, but I suggest you have the ability to dry two at a time, the one you are using and the one to use next. Otherwise you will be waiting half a day or more for the next spool to dry.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for this! I just ordered the dehydrator and will build one this weekend. What material did you print the walls out of?

@obv

I used ASA, but it requires a full height skirt and an enclosure to keep it from warping and pulling off the bed. I think you could use PETG.

Tried printing this with PETG but noticed there was an issue with your .stl file. Do you see the same thing in prusa slicer?
