Understanding "Live Adjust Z"

Only in my second week printing, and I have a basic question about the "Adjust Live Z" option while printing. Does this adjustment only effect the current printing layer Z height? Or does it have an effect on the Z height of following layers, as well?

RE: Understanding "Live Adjust Z"

live adjust Z, is intended to get your first layer correct.

if the first layer  is not correct then following layers will not be correct

I believe it may be accessible on the second layer but I have never used the feature on anything but the first layer.

RE: Understanding "Live Adjust Z"

Most problems reported here related to lack of adhesion or warping are caused by-- fully or partially--by incorrect live Z, so getting it right is crucial.

It's not really hard--as long as you don't use Prusa's built-in approach. Instead use this method: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3s-mk3-assembly-and-first-prints-troubleshooting/life-adjust-z-my-way/

Much easier, faster, and less frustrating.

@fuchsr

This was very helpful. I have done a few prints now without touching the Live Adjust Z knob. Thanks for this valuable lesson.
