Prusa MINI Unable to Purge Filament Consistently

I've had my Prusa Mini for about a year now, and I've been really happy with how it's been working. This afternoon I started a print, but when I checked back in later, it wasn't extruding any filament. The print was partially done, but at a certain point it seems like the filament just stopped extruding. I cleaned the nozzle with an acupuncture needle, and tried again with the same result. I then tried manually pushing the filament into the extruder (while heated up), to see if that would clear the nozzle. Temporarily, that seemed to work; the filament purged nicely, but when I started to print something, nothing would come out. I repeated the process of manually inserting the filament a few times (often with a lot of filament), each time with the same result. I'm quite confused about what the problem would be, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the PTFE tube in the hot end has worn out. Try replacing it. A spare should have come with the printer. I consider them a wear item and replace whenever things get flakey and the head appears clogged and can't be fixed by the needle or cold pulls.

Check the diameter of your filament - if you have a thin batch (not so common these days but it does sometimes happen with cheaper spools) it can slip in a normally pressured extruder - if so tighten the idler and enter the true value in the slicer.

Cheerio,

I have a same issue, but my Mini is only one month old.

When i start a print with Prusa PETG (it is a 12 hour print) after about 2 hours there is no filament extruded and can't unload the filament.

I can pull out the filament from the hotend but it is very hard to get out from the long PTFE tube. Also the filament is stuck in the extruder and i have to deassemble the extruder to get it out. Could it realy be, that the small PTFE tube has to be replaced after such a short time?

Thanks for the help! It seemed like the problem was the PTFE tube; when I replaced it my printer worked perfectly.

I also noticed, that the filament was so deformed, that it was hard to get it out from the long PTFE tube.

Did you replaced the small one or the long one?
