Prusa Mini Switch Cable
Hi all,
I am planning to move my switch and USB port on Prusa Mini to the front panel. USB is pretty straight forward as I just buy an extension cable. But when it comes to power switch I am bit more cautios. Does anyone know how much power is there so I can use appropriate cable (i.e. use this wire calculator)? Too thin cable and too high power can even start fire. I would like to very much avoid that. 😀 I saw somewhere schematics for the buddy board, but it is unreadable for me as I don't understand it. 😀
Thanks a lot!

The Mini's power supply delivers a maximum of 160 watts. That would be a max. current of approx. 6.7 amps at 24V. A 1.5mm2 wire is perfectly adequate.
RE: Prusa Mini Switch Cable
I used a 2 x 1.5mm2 (awg 16) cable to extend the power cable to the front panel. No issues so far.
If You want to stay relaxed, use a 2 x 2.5mm2 (awg 14) cable.

Statt zu klagen, dass wir nicht alles haben, was wir wollen, sollten wir lieber dankbar sein, dass wir nicht alles bekommen, was wir verdienen.
RE: Prusa Mini Switch Cable
Thank you very much to both of you! 🙂

@tae
At one percent voltage drop, even a wire size of 1mm2 would be sufficient.
