preview thumbnails not showing?
I upgraded to the new 5.1.0 and now when selecting a print i just get a blank black space where i used to see the print preview image. I am using slicer 2.6.1 so i am not sure what the issue is? Anyone have anything similar going on? I also did some upgrades (bondtech ifs feeder + copperhead heatbreak/block) but i'm doubting that has anything to do with it. But yeah would be nice to see the preview thumbnail once again 😀

Well i managed to see one thumbail when i selected the print and i thought the issue was resolved, but i just exported another print (using the prusaslicer is mini profile) and it didn't show the preview thumbnail on the printer once again 😵

Yep, I'm experiencing the same thing. Ever since having to deal with the binary g-code thing (of which I haven't gotten to work; just exporting as a normal gcode in Slicer), none of my uploads show a preview.

Update the slicer to the new 2.7.0 version and see what happens. For me, slicer 2.7.0 and firmware 5.1.0 work great together.

Just updated to 5.1 firmware for the mini and prusaslicer 2.7.0 and also don't have thumbnails now.

Thumbnails are not working on my MK4 with new 5.1 firmware and 2.7.0 PrusaSlicer. Resets and reboots have not resolved the issue.

I'm seeing duplicate gcode files on my printer after uploading a single file from prusaslicer onto the thumbdrive. If I select that duplicate file on the printer (which has a file name that is the same with a "._" prefix), there is no preview. However, if I select the other gcode (with the file name created at export) I can see the preview. I wonder if these issues are related.

I had the same problem with not showing the thumbnails. The problem was that I was using an old printer profile, when I switched to 'Original Prusa MINI & MINI+ Input Shaper' the MINI+ shows the thumbnails again.
Perhaps it helps to change the Printer Settings G-Code-Thumbnails string to 16x16/QOI, 220x124/QOI, 200x240/QOI, 640x480/PNG

Running into this issue with my Mini+ as well. Just updated to 5.1.0 and used the 2.7.0 slicer for the g-code (old g-code also fails to preview).

The latest firmware (5.1.0) is now designed to display QOI format images, not png like it used to show. QOI are smaller. This whole binary gcode and QOI change is designed to offset the abysmally slow connection to prusa printers by making the files smaller. Rather than actually fixing the terrible speeds but that's a different issue.
As such your old gcodes with png thumbnails wont display. Updating to slicer 2.7 is the start, however you also have to have the latest mini profiles too where the thumbnail string in Printer Settings has been updated too (as described above by glowin). Updating the slicer does not always update the profiles. Use the Configuration>Check for configuration updates option to try and force it to update the profiles.
If your Mini printer profile you are using already has the thumbnails set to QOI and gcode sliced with that profile still isn't showing on the mini then you have an issue. As such that should be reported to the appropriate github. As it could either be a PS or firmware issue in this case then take your pick as to where to report it. The devs should move it if you put it in the wrong one.

Yes, using the Use the Configuration>Check for configuration updates option to try and force prusa slicer to update the profiles and updating the mini's firmware worked for me!

Found another issue with this Slicer 2.7.1 and firmware 5.1.0 preview image won't show with funky file names, in my case a jumbled one from downloading a name with spaces like this:
Small%20Pill%20Box_0.4n_0.2mm_PLA_MINI_1h26m.bgcode
After renaming to something sensible preview image was present.
Got here after I found the problem but none of the solutions worked for me, turned out it was the filename, leaving here for the next person with the same issue.

Thanks all for working this, and thanks Led and Neophyl for nailing the last two critical things to do. I set the filename template to
{input_filename_base}_{layer_height}mm_{printing_filament_types}_{printer_model}_{print_time}.gcode
in PrusaSlicer>>Print Settings>>Output options, and updated to the latest configuration, and the problem was solved for me.
I must say that the rollout of 5.1.x has been done very poorly by Prusa. I was at firmware 4.3.4 with bootloader 1.1.0. I got no warning nor advice of how to upgrade to 5.1.2. Took me a day to find out I had to first upgrade to firmware 4.4.1, which automatically updated to bootloader 2.0.2, then, and only then, upgrade to firmware 5.1.2 and bootloader 2.3.4. What a mess they created...

I have a mini with an SD card with 1000 old gcode files on it with meaningless names that I need to print occasionally. How can I see what they are?
Do I need to role the firmware back?

It works also for me now on my prusa mini.
I updated to Firmware 5.1.2+13478 and bootloader 2.3.4, and since i couldn't see any thumbnails, neither for old or new objects...
I added 16x16PNG in the setting list of G-code thumbnails, and since i see it ! 😉

Hello! Thank you for the information here. I understand that now that I have updated my MINI, I need to re-slice files to have the images appear again. Is there a place where Prusa has posted updated sliced demo files for the MINI? From time to time I print those demos and it would be nice to have the images appear for these too. I don't really want to configure and slice them all myself. Thanks!
The files I'm downloading here https://help.prusa3d.com/article/sample-g-codes_529630 (as of 2024-02-11) are all dated 1/11/2021, so they are the old files.

I reverted to the old string that only had PNG defined in it and I got my thumbnails back.
I'm using an ancient FW though.
