Nozzle assembly hitting project

My projects are having critical failures.  It's happened with a "Groot" that I made larger than it was designed.  Figured I needed to get into the design and adjust settings, so wasn't that concerned.  Then it happened with a Death Star, twice.  First time, it was almost completed when it happened, this time it was early in the project.  Files were downloaded from this site, then sliced with "Cura".  Problem persists with PETG and PLA.

Deck was thoroughly cleaned with soap and water prior to this attempt. Base layer stuck nicely to the deck.  PLA, 200* nozzle, 70* plate.

Possibly fixed

I'm trying again.  Doing more reading I decided to check my sensor height.  It was higher than it should have been.  Adjusted to a zip tie, and recalibrated.  I even used a micrometer this time.  My eyeball was not nearly as good as I thought it was.  Previous settings ~1.5 had my first layer at .018".  Current setting of 1.76 has it at .008", or .2032mm.  Still seems like an awful lot of adjustment to get the layer right, but, not configuring it correctly could have been causing my problem.

Will update in 7-8hrs if project is successful, sooner if the problem is not corrected.

It's good!

It appears that the problem is resolved.  Next time I'll read through the forum more before making a post.

Fixed
