Issues with Prusa Mini (Ironing Pass Skipping & light leakage)
Hey everyone! I’ve been running into a couple of issues with my Prusa Mini and I’m hoping someone can help me out.
First off, when I’m doing the ironing pass (set to iron ‘all top surfaces’ in PrusaSlicer), I’ve noticed that my printer is skipping out some parts. Not sure if this is a settings issue or something else entirely.
Also, I’ve been holding the prints up to the light, and some light is coming through them (almost like they’re a bit translucent). I’ve set up the printer following the Prusa guide, including the sensor height using a card, but I’m still getting this weird result.
Anyone run into anything like this or have any suggestions?
Appreciate the help!
RE: Issues with Prusa Mini (Ironing Pass Skipping & light leakage)
Regarding the "ironing skips some parts", could you share a photo and upload your .3mf file? (You will need to Zip the .3mf, otherwise the forum software will silently drop the attachment.)
Regarding the "translucent prints", what filament are you printing with, and how many solid layers (top + bottom) are there? Does light come through gaps in the layers, or through the plastic material itself? A lot of filament materials and colors are indeed somewhat translucent, so it's important to know what you are printing with.

No, sorry, that did not work. As mentioned, please make sure to compress the .3mf file first and attach it as a .zip file. To attach images, I find the "Add Media" button (above the editor window) to work best.

Alright, now the attachment came through. Looking into the .3mf, the slicer preview claims that it is indeed ironing all the surfaces: Letters, surrounding frame, and the wide background are. So which areas do you feel are not getting ironed? Did you actually see the printer not going there during the ironing pass? As mentioned in my initial reply, could you share a photo of the result and indicate which areas you are unhappy with?
I assume this is also the print where you observed some light coming through? Your base plate is very thin, only three layers. I would expect some light to shine through the filament unless it is a very dark, strongly pigmented color. If you need to avoid the transparency, can you just make the base a bit thicker?

The latest print I did with those settings, was this below. Text doesn't look great or ironed, same with some of the border, It looks like it hasn't ironed properly, whereas the very first print I did, was great.
