First layer problems

Hey,

I got some problems with my first layer. The first layer calibration is done and the z-axis-adjustment also, worked very well and looked good so far.

Now, for some reasons, the first layer looks kinda bad (see the picture). I cant really figure out, when exactly the layer is good or not, but often the first print of the day is worse than when the nozzle is hot already, it seems like the Prusa Mini doesnt heat up constantly or needs some time to get the correct heat to work properly.

I already printed the exact same gcode twice with like 1 minute break between those prints, one first layer is bad and the second one is perfect, so my slicer settings shouldt be the problem.

Does anyone have similar problems or some ideas?

RE: First layer problems

Try reading through some of the other threads with the exact same problem.  There's loads of them in the mini forum sections.  The Minda probe used on the mini is not temperature compensated, as the bed warms up the distance changes (this also happens on the compensated MK3 Pinda but to a lesser extent).

If you warm your bed up and let it warm through at a specified temp (for example 60 degrees) for 10-15 minutes before calibrating, then each time you print you pre-warm to the same 60 degrees at the start of a print session you should get more consistent results.  Things expand when heated.

Also for bed levelling instead of using the crappy built in method use the process described in the Jeff Jordan thread to level.  Its much easier and gives better results.

But to be honest preheating for 10-15 minutes is not the soluition, I would accept permanently... Isnt there another fix?

Further it seems like not every Mini User has this problem, otherwise Pursa would be aware of this, wouldnt they? I cant find a single thread or video or anything which relatates to my exact problem..

Thats just in this sub forum.  I didnt bother with a full search.
