Failing Z-axis selftest

After my previous-previous 200h maintenence, i keep getting z-axis failed on the travel.

I always do a selftest and firstlayer calib for the steel-sheet i'm using.

First i adjust the spinda, which gives an approx 2mm height from plate, the an additional about 193.5mm Z-travel before the test fails.

When manually moving the Z downwards, it "snaps" to 185mm which is stock in the firmware.

It's a kit i built and it has passed the wizards and selftests before.

Right now it has about 25kg filament thruput in total.

Could it be that it was just within the tolerence for Z-height from the start and adjustments for pinda, slop in the printer i'm just outside Z limits?

Any advice except to pluck it apart and together again? It prints just fins, just fails the Z-test.

Best Answer by mrstoned:

I tried putting the included spanner on top of X-axis and Z-axis now passes the test.

This time the travel is about 191mm so i guess i hit a hard travel-limit someplace.

RE: Failing Z-axis selftest

Did you over tighten the trapezoidal nut? That's where mine failed after initial build.

No, didn't touch the z-nut.

I will try videoing the selftest and post here.

That was weird watching it upside-down (Stranger Things homage? 😜 ). Glad it worked for you.
