Do I need a new extruder motor?
I was trying to fix my 3D printer a while ago, I was having print issues and replaced my extruder to try to fix it. After installing the extruder I was seeing the same problems.
In the video below, I'm trying to load filament. The normal movement is when it says "loading" and the jittering is when it says "purging" on the screen. It sounds terrible in the extruder.
Does this indicate I need a new motor?
RE: Do I need a new extruder motor?
Probably a single phase fault. The motor winding may be broken, or the cable may be broken, or the controller on the board may not work. Try to swap the motors to locate the fault.

RE: Do I need a new extruder motor?
I did some testing. When I choose E motor in the settings and change the value, it just jitters back and forth. Swapping the E and Z motor drives, and adjusting the Z value in the motor control, the motor jitters when going up in value. But if I decrease it back to zero, the movement is smooth. So it seems like counter clockwise (if the motor is placed with the gear facing up) isn't working properly?
