Cracking sound with Y axis movement
My Y axis about in the middle of its travel tends to crack when moving towards the back of the range of travel.
I have cleaned the printer and cannot locate anything that would cause the snapping sound. I have checked the belts both tightness and made sure they are clean and bearings. It is perfectly reproducible when I move the bed in the Move Axis menu. It only occurs when I move the Y axis. The snaping or cracking sound is fairly loud.
The snapping sound appears to come from the underside and is not present when the printer is turned off and I manually move the Y axis. It only occurs once or twice during the travel of the Y axis in the middle of travel and only when the travel is toIMG-1300ward the back of the printer.

Just a thought, did you check the bearing where the belt turns around at the front of the machine? I had a cracking noise and was sure it wasn’t the bed or bed bearings, found the bearing on the belt bad. Like yours, mine would make a noise about the same place every time, but that was what it was. There is a manufacturer that makes that part with two bearings in it, think it will handle the load better. Snozzle I think.

Agreed, check the idler.
It might be a failing bearing or it may just be out of line and you are hearing it jump straight...

I have ordered replacement bearing for the Y axis idler. I will install it and see if that takes care of the problem.

I have replaced the idler bearing, and the cracking continues. Could it be a bearing in the stepper motor? Can those bearings be replaced or do I need to replace the stepper motor?
To check the stepper motor: Turn OFF the printer. Remove the belt. Turn the motor by hand. You should just feel the gentle bumping of the steps but it should otherwise be smooth. A grating sensation or a noticeable variation in the force required to move it indicates a bad motor bearing. Without specialist tools you cannot accurately replace a motor bearing, buy a new motor.
If it passes the test; when reassembling move the bed and belt to a new position. If the noise persists is it still in the same place or have you moved it?

I have the Y axis motor assembly and I am looking for the installation instructions. I have done some exploration and have yet to find them. Would someone be so kind as to help me locate them?
