Cannot upgrade from 4.0.5-RC1+900 to 4.0.5 (final)

I am trying to upgrade from 4.0.5-RC1+900 to the final release of 4.0.5 and my printer simply refuses.  New firmware is not detected, and when I select FW Update I just get taken back to the home screen.  I've tried factory reset, and reset button by itself and while holding the jog wheel button.  Nothing has worked.  Is there some other way to trigger a mandatory firmware update on this thing?

Have you tried an other USB2 stick? (USB2 with black inner -- NOT USB3 with blue inner) the update file must be in de the root of the USB stick

Turn off the printer, insert the stick, start the printer. It won´t recognize the firmware when you plug in while running.

Switching to a smaller USB stick worked.  A 64GB stick works for transferring GCODE files, but not for firmware updating.

Cory, great to hear it worked. can you confirm the color the USB plug that did not work?

on USB3 the color must be blue, USB 2 can be White/Black (but not blue)

USB3 should be downward compatible with USB2, my guess is the file system (Fat32 vs NTFS) on the USB and/or perhaps partition size

FWIW both were black and both were FAT32.  The only discernable difference was the volume size.

The operative word in your answer is 'should' but is isn't. I have multiple USB3 drivers that only work in the mini if I reboot the mini with the stick in -- if I detach the drive and reattach the mini does not see the drive (have to power off and reboot to fix). Writing this I realize it could be that sector size could be the culprit...
