Anyway to manually adjust the points of the mesh when my bed isn't flat like on the MK3S?

Hi,

Is there no way to manually adjust certain parts of the mesh as my bed isn't flat at all? I know you can manually adjust the numbers on each point for the MK3S but why not on the Mini?

Really need some help with this as I want to use minis for my farm but at the moment anything with larger bottom layers I can't print well.

Thanks

You would have to mod the bed, I would suggest the silicone bed levelling mod as noted here: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/user-mods-octoprint-enclosures-nozzles/prusa-mini-silicone-bed-leveling-mod/

Thanks for the reply, I was really hoping I wouldn't have to mod anything but I've just received my 2nd mini and it's exactly the same, no where near flat and the probe can't get it close to level. Especially from right to left as the X gantry leans down.

This is basically a design flaw in the Mini, it relies on parts being perfectly aligned. If it is not square after assembly, you are bit stuck. About the only way to fix it post-assembly is by adding shims in appropriate places.

I do not use silicone but hardened steel springs. The original Prusa spacer remains in the center and springs are installed on the outer border. With these springs the bed can be levelled in a short time relatively easily (approx. 0.1mm). When leveling, I heat the bed between 60 and 90 degrees C., because the heat can easily deform the bed and therefore there can be a difference between cold and warm leveling.

Hi,

So have you followed the silicone mod but just used springs instead? When you say the spacer is in the centre do you mean in the centre of each spring or you only have the springs on the outer points and not one in the middle?

Cheers

@karl-herbert

Where do you source these coil springs? And do they have plain ends ("geschliffene Auflageflächen" - I have no idea for an English translation)

Best regards, Clemens

I think it is 9 points - 1 with the original spacer in the middle, 8 springs without spacers but with coil springs on the outside.

One spacer in the middle (without spring) and 8 springs outside without spacer. The springs are this one:

They are of good quality and have been in use with my MK3 for over 2 years. The silicon mod was not discussed at that time.

@clemens-m

I still have about 50 pieces of these "hartgezogenen" springs in stock. I bought a larger batch because shipping costs more than 8 pieces of them. And you can always use these springs somewhere. If you need some - contact me.

Of course they are plane grinded on both ends.
